Ah yes. This is based on an old role play with a friend.
The ending which is very happy... despite the fact that Sonic is technically dead.

It's complicated and no the role play its self will not be posted.
But long story short after a long horrible war and a lot of family fighting Sonic gets a happy family,
he gets back with Shadow after a little bit of talking thing through and they both look after Sonic's twins, Rojo and Purity.
I really do love Rojo and Purity, but that might be because we've had Rojo since elementary school and added Purity in high school...
we've been working on this for a long time.
